    1967 Steering Column

I am looking for a NOS or a really good reproduction UPPER shaft bearing.
    Standard or NON telescoping column.
    All leads appreciated.

    Don,

Have you tried your Chevy dealer? I found that my '70 column's LOWER bearing was still available at the Parts Dept. The P/N may have been superseded but it was the real deal. (had to order, but was available)

      Don,
Contact Mike Deneple he will what you need. Not sure if you have the early or late design, but he can help.

John, is the bearing actually bad, or is it just loose inside the plastic upper housing?

            Rich,
As the OP of this thread, my name is Don, not John.
Also, the upper bearing is giving me a rubbing, or rough sound. I had lubricated the bearing when I had to replace the lower column bearing, I used wheel bearing grease.
So now since I have to replace the 67's turn signal switch, again, I would like to repair/replace both issues at the same time. This Corvette was built in early May '67 so I believe it is a LATE model column.

            DON, not John

Sorry for the name hiccup Don. I mistakingly thought the last post was the OP.

OK, sounds bad. I had 2 NOS upper bearings a while ago. Iirc, early late used the same upper, lowers different. I sold them along with all of my C2 parts collection to a local parts vendor a few months ago. I'd bet he still has them. Give him a call and my name so he can check. I had all of my parts catalogued so he could check the piles easier before adding to inventory.

Re: 1967 Steering Column - Update

So I finally found time, now that the summer cruise season is pretty much over, to replace the upper bearing.
Removing the column and the TS switch was easy, the upper bearing not as easy. the only snag was removing a split ring retainer above the bearing/housing. After that the ball bearings just fell out, both rows. The installation was easy and straight forward....until I wen to install the upper hub and secure it with the washer and nut, then the cancelling cam spring loaded contact flew apart. Terrific
So now when I go to order one, the parts houses all show a black plastic and brass cam for the TELE column, and a white plastic and brass for the NON TELE. Problem is the my original 67 non tele column has a BLACK plastic and brass cam. So which is correct, my original or the repop houses?

Also my original horn button and the repop horn button have reversed checkered flags
