    Re: Jacking up rear

Jack I have been lifting mid years for 43 years at the rear differential always used a hockey puck or a piece of 2 x 4. Never had a problem. Use jack stands as needed ask wqtch for the tire carrier

I don't know what planet your engine builder is from, but here on Earth it's considered a good idea to do a "cam break-in".

Hopefully the engine builder coated the lifters, lobes, and rocker balls with a moly disulfide break-in lube, filled it with SAE 15W-40 CK-4 oil, and even added a ZDDP supplement like GM EOS, and static timed the engine.

Fill the front fuel bowl through the bowl vent, then go through the cold start procedure, and hopefully it will fire right up. When it fires bring revs to 2000 and hold them in the 2000-2500 range for about 20 minutes. It will be a good idea to place a big fan in front the grille and turn on the heater full blast if necessary to keep the engine from overheating.

After the 20 minute cam-break-in check dwell and timing then shut off the engine and change the oil filter, but not the oil. The high solids content of the MoS2 can clog the filter causing the bypass to remain open.

If moly faced rings were installed and the walls were properly honed for moly rings, little break in is necessary. Just drive the car and vary speed and load for a couple of hundred miles, which means normal urban/suburban driving will usually do the job.

Leave the original oil in for 500-1000 miles, then change the oil and filter using SAE 15W-40 CK-4.

BTW, putting the rear on jackstands will not put any meaningful load on the engine. It's not materially different than just revving the engine in neutral. What the hell is this guy thinking?

Roller cams don't need the 20 minute break-in I previously described. Just start it up and drive it. If it has moly plated rings they will seat very rapidly unlike the chrome plated rings that were OE back in that era.
