    63/63 Riverside Red paint formula

I'am looking for a single stage urethane formula that is close to original red/orange Riverside Red color for 63/64.

    Thanks Bob

You might try contacting Tim Burke at Burke's Corvettes in Maitland, FL. Tim painted one of the 67 L88 Corvettes and he is a perfectionist. He did painstaking research on the perfect color in single stage for my 63 and its all he uses now on cars requiring that color . Tim even puts the red oxide sealant on the car before the color coat to produce a perfect finish. Getting the correct "tomato red" hue is an art and requires a good eye - Tim took one look at my original repaint by a prior owner and immediately said "that red has too much black mixed in". The man has "the eye".

He gave me the paint formula and manufacturer at one point but I can't locate it.

Thanks. That frontal pic makes the car look too shiny but I like it. The car actually has a nice sheen b

Bob my 63 I used the PPG formula, about 10 years ago; there formula was spot on, when I painted my car (in my garage) I had the original paint on the pillars so I used that area to do a test panel . I can tell you the urethane is super durable and looks great. And covers super good, but remember the guys mixing the paint are all important to staying as close as they can to the formula, if there mixing is done with a computer you should be spot on. The color is orangey in sunlight and a red in the shade. I also think a key to the correct color is the red oxide primer under the color.

Edward, Thank you for the reply. I know our local PPG dealer and he is a car guy. I know about the red oxide primer,as the gray primer will change the color. I see you have a conv, how much sprayable paint did you use ? I have a cp so I will need more. Do you have the can the paint came in? Sometimes the jobber will print the formula and stick it to the backside of the label. Thank you as this will be helpful.

100% correct, the car has a tomato color in certain light and is red in bright light (per pics above); and beside a super bright red (such as Viper Red) the paint can look almost brownish. You can also "touch up" the single stage without reshooting an entire panel with clear coat.

Bob I brought 5 qts.,I wanted extra for touch up and to paint hardtop. It’s a expense for Red. But it’s stored in a airtight zip lock bag.the picture is from 2016 nationals

I'm not entirely sure how much pain was used.
