I had used it for over 5 years occasionally when my cars were parked outside overnight, worked very well in rain and to keep the early morning dew off when they were at Concorso type shows, it worked great. But, I had never used it before for a long period over a black lacquer car sitting the the July Las Vegas sun.

      Michael,
I assure you the lacquer is dry. What is missing is an understanding of the resin that makes up the lacquer finish.

It is not a cross-linked chemical, and that means with temperature you can melt lacquer.

Little big example - grand pianos with gloss black lacquer... when they get chipped, they don't bring out a paint booth. The guy that come out melts a touch of the matching solid resin with nothing more than a lighter and with special spatulas, they apply and blend it is with final polishing, similar to how cars are done, undetectable repairs.

We can't always do this but at Good Guys at Texas Motor Speedway where it gets warm a guy I spoke with always uses a pop-up canopy over his to partially protect from the sun.
