    John,

I, like you, bought a car (327/350HP) with AC (roadster) that had been converted to r134. Next weekend, I'll be switching it back to r12. I literally got my EPA 609 certification so I could buy a used 30# tank! I think r134 can work fine, but at best in a C2, it's weak. I have r134 in a 1966 Mustang with a Sanden compressor and it works pretty well there. It's definitely a mess flushing the system and switching back to mineral oil and r12, I'll let you know in a ~month if it was all worth it
    You will be much happier......thumbs-up.png

i once had a leak in one of the aluminum hard lines where it passed through the core support. someone in the past had neglected to replace the grommet and it chafed on the sharp edge of the support.

So how is the re-conversion done? What has to be replaced, and what can be re-used?

From memory. Can I make the assumption that the expansion valve, the STV is still there. If it is, then all you need change is the fitting/Schrader valve in the muffler. The R12 valves are different than the R134's. Purge the R134, clean the system and replace all the O-rings. Do not over tighten the o-rings.

Put in 3.5 lbs. of R12.

If an STV bypass was installed or other OEM parts were substituted, you need to look at those.

            Good luck.
