I know that the TIMJ says that the headers, exhaust pipes and mufflers were painted black but I am wondering about the tailpipe extensions. It seems to me that they would be unpainted as they were installed after the body drop unless of course, the manufacturer painted them with black preservative paint prior to shipping. Does anyone know for sure?
Were C1 tailpipes painted?

Re: Were C1 tailpipes painted?
Keith,
Please read the 56-7 JM Mufflers, Tail Pipes & Hanger paragraph in the Chassis Section - spells out exactly what's painted and not painted.
FWIW, the last tail pipe that extends through the body, was installed after the body drop.

Re: Were C1 tailpipes painted?
Okay, thanks all. However the 58 to 60 tailpipe configuration was not the same as the 56 or 57 or the 61 and 62. I apologize as I am referring to 58 -60. As the tail pipes extended through the body on 58 - 60, the tailpipes were not installed until after body drop and obviously couldn't have been painted black along with the pipes and mufflers unless the manufacturer shipped them with black preservative paint.Keith MacRae
