I hate to ask, what would I expect to pay for a gallon of unopened gallon of Dupont Acrylic lacquer?

Harry:

Color is dealer mixed and not "factory pack", so it may be off a shade or two......or it might be "dead on". It is anyone's guess.

Make sure paint is fluid and not solidified.

Larry is spot on Harry. I would have a sparayout done and send to one of the experts for comparison.

I was in the paint and chemical business for 40 years. I would not trust 50 + year old paint even it has been sealed since new. Chemicals in the paint deteroriate over time. Colors change over time. It might be good but I personally would follow Joes advise. Not quite "Run Forest Run" but close.

Jimmy, about 8 years ago I bought an open gallon of PPG Silver Blue acrylic lacquer. I needed to paint the rear lower valance on my 63 to get ready for the 2016 National. It was a few shades off, but it worked. I only lost points on condition. The car was painted with Dupont lacquer around 1980.

Everything we do with paint is a crap shoot.

1 agree with jimmy. Ive been painting since the 70's . That stuff is old , may be bad . Small touch up i might trust . A whole paint job i'd worry about .
