    Carter AFB 3460S

I am looking for a Carter 3460S core for an automatic transmission that is dated between March '63 to June '63. I currently have a Feb '63 which is deemed to be too early for my July '63 car. I have already contacted Sokolowski, Marquez, Chuck Smith, Rob Kunz, Chicago Corvette, and Custom Carbs. As well as spending an unhealth amount of time searching ebay. Can anyone recommend any other potential sources? Regards, Greg Barr

Greg You can look at carbs for Chris Craft boats as they used Carter carbs at some time.

By whom and where was it "deemed too early"? It fits within the 6-month rule.
How late in July is your car? Late cars often received earlier parts from the bottom of the bin if that part was not going to be carried over to the next model year.
I'm not convinced you need to trade your first child for what was "deemed" the correct part. (Although all of us, at times, would have traded our first child for any offer.)

What Mike said... were did you get the idea that the carb is too early?

The existing carb is dated AB3. Revision A, February '63. The car was built on the second to last day of July. It's a close call. To avoid a dispute at the National, I am trying to find another 3460S body that has a later date prior to the car's build date. So far, I have only found earlier carbs or carbs built after the car's build date. I don't plan to discard the carb body that is on the car if I find a later one. If I can't find a later body, I plan to go with the one I have. Thanks, Greg

Is the AB carb one you sourced along the way, or was it on the car when you purchased it?

The A is not a revision. No one is sure what it means. My older copy of the 63/64 JG say NOTHING about it. If you have a current version, what does it say about the first letter. There was a recent thread on this same subject. Check it out. Others first letters are B and C. My guess is that there were three assembly lines and the first letter indicates which one.

March, April, May, June, July. That's five months and the limit is six. If you get grief about it refer to the team leader and judging chairman.

The carb was on the car when I purchased it 15 years ago from the second owner. She wasn't into the mechanical side of the car just loved the vehicle. She didn't make any changes to the car during her ownership. Greg

Greg if it were me I’d leave the carb on there. 99.9% likely it’s the original carb.

                    Hi Chris,
I share your sentiment and may end up doing that.
                    Regards, Greg
