    C1 Splash Plate/Guard Installation

I am in the process of installing my Splash Plates/Guards on my 1959 Corvette.I purchased after-market replacements 20 plus years ago but never got a chance to install them. I noticed that there is a .25-.38 inch gap on the driver side guard between the frame and the guard. The two mounting bolts that attach to the frame have this gap. Is this normal or acceptable? Are the replacement guards not precisely made and should I re-order a new set. The passenger side plate fits well.

Thanks again for your support and glad to be back at NCRS after raising two beautiful daughters.

    Thanks,
    Tony Marra (Montreal)

Is there a gap when you have the seals in place on the splash plates?

      Mark,
Thank you for taking the time to respond t my question. The Seals, to my knowledge, are installed on the Fender Side only. They do not affect the gap on the SplashShield.jpg between the frame and Shield as noted in the picture.

Should the Seal also be installed between Frame and Shield?

      Thanks again!

Thanks Mark, is the gap normal?

Gaps on C1's are common everywhere around the car. I'll take a few of my 59 for comparison in a bit. In 35 years they never came off by me.

Tony, same gap on mine. I believe they're the originals. One photo with flash, other ambient light. Car on lift.

Your welcome Tony, Thanks but many others are "best" around here.

But now I see a problem on mine I missed years ago. I have NO seals on mine, both sides! I guess that's why I have cooler rear brakes! lol
