    61 hardtop restoration

I'm in the process of restoring a hardtop for my 61,and about ready to give up. I watch and rewatch the Glassworks videos looking to remove the entire frame from the top, but have not been successful. Everything is off the top including the glass and all the stainless trim, but not the frame itself. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

If you are talking about removing the fiberglass from the frame, there is a calk or adhesive attaching it that can be a difficult bond to break. If you are sure all the screws are out then you just need to break this bond. Good luck

Ernest, I'm doing the same thing on my 62 hardtop and did not see this specific topic discussed elsewhere or on the Glassworks videos. The side drip rails and stainless came out as one piece but Don's right ... there's a huge amount of adhesive and God knows what else that's a real mess to get off. I did finally pry it with a screwdriver to get it to release but I also realized that I had overlooked some of the rivets that were still attached and buried under the adhesive, etc. Of course, had to grind them out once discovered and eventually got it off. Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks I finally got everything apart, and am now ready to strip then paint. The videos and Matt at Glassworks were a tremendous help. Ernie
