    1973 corvette backup wiring

    Hi all!

I am now working my way through the main wiring harness on the inside. Today I discovered one more weird situation. Best explained by the attached image.
The wires should attach to a connector but instead they end on two screws.
I am hoping to find out if the mismatch between the wiring and the service manuals wiring schema is to be expected.
When looking at the image, the number 24 and 39Y are represented by the screws.
    My car is a 1973, 454, 4 speed.
    Thanks for any hints!

Bubba has struck again. Those two should have terminals inside an L-shaped plastic connector that mates with a pink and a green wire in an L-shaped connector that comes from the back-up light switch on the trans.

Thanks Mike! That would definitely match what the schema suggests. Will go ahead and get that fixed.

Sascha, pretty tight place to get a photo but I think this is the L shaped connector Mike mentioned and as shown on the schematic. The pink and green wires come through the firewall in the same rubber grommet as the tach cable, join at the connector then travel down to the back up light switch on the trans. Good luck and I hope this helps.

          Hi John!
Yes, that helps. I now know that the wires go through the tacho grommet which I did not know beforehand. And the picture helps, too. Good to see how the connector should look like!
I have ordered a new backup switch also which did not exist on my car.
          Thanks again!
