I am refreshing a 35th Annv I have had for a while. I'm replacing the carpets and I'm curious how BG painted these cars.
My understanding of the BG painting process is, by 88 most of the main body components were painted by "robots" and the urethane components (Front and rear facias and lower sill panels) were painted by a contractor outside of BG due to the addition of a flex agent.
Since the 35ths were all D84 2 Tone paint and C2L Dual roof panel Corvettes:
When was the black applied to the halo bar and roof panel?
Was it done by hand and by whom? Repair shop?
I found some evidence under the carpets when they were pulled to indicate the black was applied 2nd, but the doors look like black was applied 1st (maybe black primer?)

A scrap of masking tape on the tunnel under the carpet pad
mask2.jpg
Black paint drips on the white paint on the tunnel under the pad
The doors show black under the door assist plate (the plate used by the robotic arm to open and close the door, see the yellow photo) and black around the edges of the door face.

Note there is no black around the inner edges on this yellow 86 convertible
Thanks Eric
