1965 Power Antenna Nut Plate Installation

Was power antenna nut plate that is on the inner left rear fender wheel well installed with the power antenna after the under coating was applied?

So it should be free of any wheel well undercoating?

    Thanks,

    James

Jim, Gary has looked at this area extremely well in the past.
Not sure how any undercoating could make it way into that area. All the one's I seen (65/66) have no undercoating

            James,

Maybe Alan was thinking about the opposite side of the rear splash panel.

aren't we talking about the "power antenna nut plate" or ground plate which the antenna goes through which is on the opposite side of the wheel well. ie YES.

I am talking about the metal power antenna nut plate that is present on the splash panel in the left rear wheel well directly behind the left rear tire.

My mistake, not use to seeing that nut plate however do know it exists, now everything makes sense.

                      Alan,

I bet the nut plate is sometimes (often?) hidden under the undercoating. If the GM worker who undercoated my wheel well had sprayed down another 2” my nut plate would have been hidden. The language in the ‘66 JG says the “entire” rear splash panel can be covered with undercoating. So my car received a relatively light coverage.

                        Gary,

Would you be able to take a measurement from nut/bolt center to center of the nut plate and tell me what the measurement is? I had to fix one of the splash panel nut plate bolt holes and ended up glassing it close. So now I need to reopen the hole.

                        Thanks,

                        James
