GM used to sell a product called "Thixatrope" which was a powdered or granular FG which was mixed with resin to use as filler or bonding adhesive. I believe it was mentioned in ST12 and later manuals in the section for fiberglass repair. I bought a can many years ago and I think I still have it

Cecil, could you show a picture of the label? It sounds like a product that's sold in different ways today as a thickening agent as to help resins be more viscous. Chopped fiberglass is one way.

I have to find it first. Haven't seen it in probably 30 years. It was described as a thickening agent. I bought it from the Chevy Dealer.

I had a can of that powder. I don't remember it being recommended for bonding. I thought it was more for a filler. It was kind of messy.

After checking a few AO Smith cars and St. Louis C2's ,the brown panel adhesive I've noticed is on the AO Smith cars.

I finally got around to taking a photo of the powder can. This was in a kit for fiberglass repair that contained epoxy, fiberglass cloth, that was much thicker than what is available from the suppliers now, and also the fiberglass powder.
Unfortunately the epoxy had a shelf life. The last time that I used the epoxy, it never hardened. I had to scrape everything off.
