It would be nice if these could be copied and stored at the NCRS archives and/or the National Corvette Museum

        Keith..... Yes

I've been working with Bill Sangrey, our Archive Director, to help him get our own items more exposed to our members. See the most recent items from our archives that Bill got to me HERE.

I'm also going to try to get some of these on the list too. But making copies of them is difficult due to their size. These belong to a friend, a fellow member, who has asked me to help share them. He's had them a very long time.

As I get more time I'll be doing more of this. Stay tuned.

Good idea, most printing shops that make copies of blueprints can also scan them to a pdf or jpg file for archiving (and sharing on the forum!). I guess the problem might be finding one with a wide enough scanner, I know the one I use can do 36 or maybe 42" wide scans, I don't recall bringing anything wider.

You could use a camera and "break the large ones into separate pieces for detailed viewing"

Well lit with a VERY GOOD PRIME LENS (35mm pro lens with huge Glass- or something of that caliber)- on a tripod would net out some nice photos even if you needed to correct them in PS.

FWIW the best way to convert old film to digital is not scanning - it is by shining a diffused high intensity light from the back of the negative or slide and then using a high quality digital camera to snap a photo - making sure the negative "GRAIN" is in focus - then invert the black and white negative in Photo Shop. Ideally you would use a lens with little to ZERO distortion.

This is how the HIGH QUALITY film to digital conversions are done by ILM - Industrial Light Magic -

for some reason this didn't get posted earlier....

So a friend checked into scanning them locally. 24" x 72" maximum. However, the chance of the scanner drums jamming is high on folded prints and there is no way I would risk this. Not to mention that '55 print I have is about as big as my '59.

I'm going to look at using a good camera and overhead tripod and photograph them in sections, then use some software to create pantographs.

But this will have to wait for now.

PS James, I broke my good digital camera a while ago. Dropped hard on the concrete floor smashing the lens. I have a nice tripod too. I may try to borrow a good camera and experiment, when time permits.
