1965 Coupe Gas Tank Removal Issues

Working on the removal of the gas tank from my '65 coupe. Everything is loose and has been removed including the overflow boot, sending unit, and tank straps. It refuses to rotate far enough down in the front to come out. What am I doing wrong?

James on a Coupe you have to remove the filler neck to get it out.

That's the question that I just came back in the house to ask. So going back in, can the sending unit be in place?

Yes, if it's original. The K&B repro has a tab that's a bit gnarly to get by. I'd recommend wait and put the sender in after the tank is in.
