    Early '68 tri-power 435hp Fuel Pump

My early 68 tri-power 435hp has been in the restoration process for quite awhile. I'll be trying to achieve "Duntov" this year but I have no clue what is the correct fuel pump.
From the 3rd edition of the TIM&JG to the current 6th edition, these manuals go back and forth between the AC Delco 40482 and the AC Delco 40659. My original pump was a 40482 but when I read the 5th edition of the TI&JG it said that 40659 was correct? So, I replaced the original 40482 with an NOS 40659. Now comes the 6th edition telling me it should be the 40482.
    Questions:
    1. Which pump is correct?
    2. Does anyone know a good 40482 restorer?
    3. Does anyone know the differences in these two pumps other than the part numbers?

    Help would be greatly appreciated!

    Re: Early '68 tri-power 435hp Fuel Pump

Over time, we see more original unrestored cars and learn more. Sometimes, people give us incorrect information, they think is correct. As I said in an earlier post, at least the 68-69 TIM&JG is a living and breathing document, gets better with time.

As time goes buy, we see more cars, we learn more. I looked at two 68 435-hp cars today, an April, and a May car. BOTH had 40482 fuel pumps.

Fred Ballard in California rebuilds the crimp type fuel pumps. DO NOT send them to Volunteer Corvette to be done. And, DO NOT use Goat Hill. Just my personal experience.

I think, 40956 is for Rochester equipped 427's.

    Hope this helps.

Not trying to hijack this thread but the fuel pump on my 72 LT-1 started leaking again today. Do you know what kind of turnaround time Fred Ballard has?

        Hi Gary,
Thanks for your help finding a person to restore my original 40482 Fuel Pump. I'll try to locate him asap.
My car has previously received a Top Flight at a Rocky Mtn Chapter meet in 2016, a Second Flight at an Arizona Regional in 2018 and a Top Flight at the 2018 National in Las Vegas. The highest score was 95.3% so I'm planning to do a PV at the special Regional in Scottsdale and another Top Flite judging at the Scottsdale Regional try to get a 97% or higher judging so I can proceed to National in July and attempt "Duntov". A ton of work has been on the car to achieve "Duntov".

What has been particularly difficult for me is reading the TIM&JG and trusting that the information is accurate and finding out that I have to go and replace expensive parts that I believed were "correct" in the first place and then do it all again.

I'm sure you already know that finding correct parts for an early '68 is somewhat haphazard.
        Regards,
