    Because of this tach cable binding issue, GM determined that the distributor housing had to be reclocked such that the vacuum canister is essentially pointing directly out the passenger side of the car. In conjunction, yes, move your wires one tower anti-clockwise.

      Found this in the AIM for the L36. Is the distributor clock placement the same for L71? Would think so?

        I have mine clocked so the vacuum advance exits behind the bracket.

            All good now. Timing set running like it was . Now to slide another cable in the sheathing and hopefully all good.
