    C2 front window channel revisited.

    Hello all,

As my driver door restoration continues on my 65 convertible, i have questions about the front channel replacement window run supplied by LIC.

Anyone have any bright ideas on fitting the channel at the vent window area? Can I assume that the new channels have to be bent to fit? Of course they rotate and refuse to seat.

First: are curved OEM type available at all?

Next: Anyone find it absolutely necessary to add a couple of small rivets to secure the channel behind the vent window? Seems the weatherstrip sure won't keep the channel seated by itself. Other than need to remove later, any reason not to add these?

Finally: Can I get a consensus on best quality interior door panel supplier these days? preferably all ready to install.

    Thanks for input.

If your existing (OEM?) U-channel stainless beads are in good shape, suggest you consider removing the old 'fuzzy' followed by re-lining with good quality hook velco (McMaster Carr, 1" wide, plain/non-adhesive, for example). Clearing the old fuzzy from the channel is a PITA, but once done there is good access to the prong attachment-things for vent window vertical seal. Here's a few pics, but they're not very good quality.** I did this on my '66 after fighting that repro junk for untold manhours. Excellent grip on the window glass edge & 1" wide fills the stripped U-channel exactly without requiring trim.

** John - I give up trying to get the 'advanced-all-weather-photo-posting' mechanization herein to work. If you send me a PM with email address I will reply with pics.
