C2 vent window regulator cover

I am repairing/restoring various items on drivers side door.1965 convertible with standard manual windows.

The vent window crank cover had some type of caulk or gasket material on the side against the regulator mechanism. Anyone know what would work best to replace this material? It looks like it was a soft material rather than rubber weatherstrip, but can't really tell
due to deterioration

Any input appreciated.
