I hope I can explain this clearly enough to get some repair solution ideas.
My 1973 T-Top used 4 screws to retain the window side weather-strip retainer. The screws and cage nut were rusted together.
Trying to remove the 10/24 screws, the screws twisted off leaving the cage nut unusable.
Now I am going to have to improvise a way to secure the retainer to the T-top.
Each cage nut is held in place by two rivets.
My first step is to figure out how to remove the cage nut assembly. I drilled out the rivets, but the cage nut seems to be glued to the T-top.
My second task is to figure out a method to replace the cage nuts with another type of fastener.
I would appreciate any ideas for a solution.
Thank you
Roger
