I like the idea, but I agree with Terry, are we going to put these cars on the judging floor for display? Also how are we going to pay for these awards? Will this be an additional charge to event registration?

      Bob,

Those are great questions. The answer to #1 is that Yes the plan is cars would be on the Judging Floor, hopefully in a special "Original Owners" section. #2 is there would probably be a modest additional charge for the Owner to register the Car for the "Original Owner Award". We won't know the cost of this program until we see how many Original Owners show interest in the program and bringing their cars to the Convention.
Just for clarity, the cars would not be judged, but merely admired.

I am the original owner of my 69 convertible and didn't drive it for 22 years while frame up restoring it (AKA having it sit with junk piled on it, not getting around to working on it, losing interest, moving, etc.). Finally my wife motivated me to finish it, which I did a couple years ago just before it turned 50. Did almost everything myself (e.g. except paint). It's hardly an NCRS quality restoration and no longer has the original engine, but most everything else is original and I drive it with some frequency. Coincidentally, it was on the cover of Corvette Magazine most recent issue (https://www.corvette-mag.com/issues/...es/long-hauler).

Honestly, it would be unlikely that I'd take or ship it out of south Florida, so my presence (and the car's) would be unlikely.

Love the idea, though, and hope many get to participate.

If you have to wait to see what interest level there is at each convention for this award, then would the price of admission change each time? I would think that you may need to establish the cost of the award before you see the level of interest. For example if the cost is $25 you may get a lot more interest than if it is $100. My take is the NCRS would at least establish a break even point for the plaque/award and add some cushion for profit based on a set number needed.

                  Bob,

Thanks for your input but I believe the plan is to determine if there is enough interest overall, not by event to go forward with the program. I would expect we will determine a cost to execute the program, then proceed with finalizing approval and if approved go forward with getting it on the calendar. The soonest possible would be the National in Mobile in 2022.

                  Thanks

I don't know that there needs to be an award, per se. I would think of it more as just an exhibition.

My wife Kay Sinclair is the original owner of a Silver 2000 convertible with a red interior, six speed. She has over 2000,000 Kilometers/120,000 miles on the odometer. We have lent it to our Austrailian friends the Formans" to drive on NCRS Road Tours. Great car.

I am the original owner of my 1974 silver small block coupe. With 140,000 miles and 2 cross country trips under its belt I completed a body off restoration in the late 80's and early 90's. In 1993 it received a Bloomington Gold and in 1994 in Seven Springs, PA it received an NCRS national top flight. It is now a fun driver but still in very nice condition and was honored to be pictured on the cover of the new 3rd edition of the 1973/1974 TIM&JG.

I would possibly be interested in displaying it at East Coast events.

It sounds like a worthwhile idea to me. I am the original owner of a 2000 coupe.

Thanks to All who have posted either about their Prized possession, or about the details of the program. As you know, we are just in the "Vehicle Finding Mode, and we are still hoping to find more cars and owners of all generations. If you know of someone who is an original Owner, please encourage them to post about their car and interest in the possible program.

                                Thanks for everyone's support!
