1995 ZR-1 lug nut covers where avail ?

1995 ZR-1 uses a lug nut with a gray plastic cover and then on top of that a stainless polished domed cover-

Does anybody have a source where to buy the domed stainless cover ? ? THANKS !!!

If covers as you described were ever originally used on ZR-1 Corvettes I cannot find that they were ever available from GM in SERVICE.

          Joe-
Interesting, my ZR- 1995 serial #0003 is extremely original, the stainless covers fit over the gray plastic lug nut covers perfectly, sure looks original to me. Are there any more ZR-1 owners that have those stainless lug not trim covers? Probably on the 94 and 95 that had the 5 spoke wheels, 93? What about owners of GRAND SPORT and other 95's that got the 5 spoke wheels
were these cocers used on those cars too ? I will ask on the Grand Sport and ZR-1 specific sites anybody ??? Thanks Bob

OK, now it has gotten crazy Who has a perfect, in the wrapper 95 ZR-1? What do you have for lug nut covers polished stainless or silver plastic? I looked on Ebay Streetside has 2 95 ZR-1's 1,000 mile with silver plastic nut nut covers AND the factory brochure shoaws a big photo of a red ZR-1 clearly shows silver plastic lug covers. Mabie somebody changed mine over the years ?? OR since mine is ser#00003 and went in to Chev executive use originally, the factory just grabbed off the shelf anybody got any thoughts
            or FACTS ??? Thanks Bob-SoCal

              Bob-------

GM catalogs the GM #12337914 wheel nut cover for all 1992-96 Corvettes (and SERVICE for 90-91) except for 1996 Grand Sport (which used black plastic covers). The GM #12337914 is a silver plastic cover and remains available from GM to this day.

I think what you have is something that was added by a previous owner. There were (and are) lots of "custom" accessories for C4 Corvettes. Since the lug nut covers were the same for ZR1 and non-ZR1, this "custom" accessory could have been installed on any 1990-96 C4.

                  Bob,

Where was your ZR-1 delivered to?

Reason I ask is that my '92 ZR-1 #42 was delivered to the GM Tech Center and has all kinds of "special" little differences such as door handles painted body color.

Hopefully some of the ex GM guys will chime in.

Bottom of my '92's build sheet. Stayed at GM until Oct 1992.

Interesting "show and display" to me would indicate your car was used for car shows and displays like Sema, iNDY RACES ETC.
With a higher ser # that makes sense I doubt the retired GM guys we want to shed some light on this are probably not going to open a discussion on lug nuts, so mabie you or I should open a whole new deal on GM Exec, show or evaluation cars ? I bought a 87 Convertible black/tan serial # very low had been used as magazine test evaluation car build sheet was marked interior part evaluation, that car had been ridden hard and put away wet, but I bought it right and was equipped to the max. Was on cover of Road and Track
Will have to find the magazine might have been later I was racing SCCA Corvettes 87 SSGT in '88 So Pacific Division Nation Championship and Riverside lap record all time stock Corvette Beat at Road Atlanta Runoffs by CHEATING Porsche 944 Turbos-
The cheating back then was out of control don't get me started

I think they allowed the 944's to cheat just to keep Porsche in the series - having had a 951 (944T) modified with an adjustable waste gate and remapped ignition /fuel they were really quick, those cars were WAY quicker than most would give them credit for. If not mistaken Bill Rhodes (restored one of the first 57 Airboxes in the 1970's) was running 944T's in SCCA at that time.

Guys this is real simple - get a dealer order guide, there are sure to be more 90's decade guides available than the 50's and 60's.
Then if there is one, look up the GM option code, then the part numbers that went to it. (0's part number are goind to have electronic trails, someone is likely going to be able to look up something.

If you cannot produce a GM part number, it is unlikely to be real.

Now, I am not SURE they were cheating, BUT in the SCCA National race at Laguna Seca I was coming up to LAP a 944Turbo, and Laguna is a handling coarse so the Porsche had a advantage vs my 87 Vette and at Road Atlanta where Corvettes supposed horsepower advantage should play in our favor- the 944 turbo was a good 10 MPH faster down the back straight, wonder what happened ?
