Faded black carpet: Replace or Restore?

I suspect this question has been asked and answered dozens of times over the years. But maybe points of view or available products have changed.

The black carpet in my 1971 convertible (standard interior) is faded and extremely coarse.

Any recommendations about a dye and/or a conditioner I could use to improve it?

I am not inclined replace, at least not for a few more years. Although I must admit, the post by James Groome about finding a factory original antenna in a sleeve under the carpet on his no-radio '71 has got me wondering if there might be one under the carpet of my no-radio '71 as well.

The antenna was burried in the cut pile carpet, (not under the carpet) at the 90degree bend of the "L" of the rear package area and the rear bulkhead below the stowage area lamp.
FWIW I use RIT dye which is diluted with water in spritz bottle - spritz and use a brush to work it into sun bleached black carpet.
