65 Coupe Restoration front turn signals

I replaced my front parking light assemblies with Trim Parts assemblies. I have all lights working (front and back) except no front turn signals at both left and right when parking lights are on. Rear turn signals work and instr. cluster bulbs flash green. Turn parking lights off and I get front signals to work. I noticed that the OEM parking light assemblies have a much better bulb socket fit then the Trim Parts assemblies.

Am I chasing a ground problem since the turn signals require more current then the parking lights?

    Regards,
    Dave K.

Sounds like your front lights are not receiving a voltage signal to the higher intensity filament (turn signal). I'd unplug the pigtail and remove the lense. Then I'd apply 12v between to white (ground) wire and the purple wire. The dimmer filament in the bulb should light up. Now apply 12v between the white wire and the light blue wire. the higher intensity filament should light up. If these work as noted then your problem is in the "car" portion of the wiring. Make sure that the colors of wires are correct sequence across the connector, per your wiring diagram. I am assuming the lights worked correctly prior to your change.....

Thanks Steve. I am using a model train transformer to test the lights. The Trim Part light sockets are junk. I do not believe that the problem is in the turn signal switch as I get signals when the parking lights are off?

The point I was trying to make is: do the respective filaments in the bulbs light up when the respective wires are energized. You may be seeing the same filament energized when either the turn signal is energized or the parking lights are on.... or the "high intensity" filament is energized when the parking lights are on and you won't see a brighter lite when the turn signal is also energized......
You didn't say if these worked BEFORE the new lights were installed......
I agree, the turn signal switch is NOT the problem. If the socket is junk, you may have been able to insert the bulb incorrectly which will be proven if you perform the above test....... some of the new bulbs are poorly made and can be installed in the socket either way..........

          Steve,

Good point. I will continue testing and let you know what happens. FYI-registered for the National and will be getting my 300 pt. Master Judge award.

Dave, Are you using a 1034 bulb with a 224 flasher? using a 1157 with a 224 flasher changes the flashing rate, could it be something like that?

Standard light bulbs don't care if the power source is AC or DC...........................
