Media Blasting leaf Springs...Yes or No?

I received my new main leaf spring from Eaton this weekend and want to begin painting it. I'd like to media blast it to put a slight profile on it so the paint will adhere to it better. Any thoughts on why this may not be a good idea?

Why not? Unless you are going to try to cut the metal in half.........
