What information on my C2 is available?

I'm trying to find any historical data that exists for our 65 coupe. Expectantly, there was no tank sticker. Any original "glove box" data is long gone. With the exception of her birthday April 9, 1965, I have found no other historical info. The matching numbers drive train and frame/body tell me some of what she was born with.

Id like to know more if the info exists. Delivery destination. Possible list of owners. Vehicle insurance history.

Can someone point me towards "the library"?

    Hi Steve,
First place to start is NCRS Historical Document services. Supply them your VIN and they can tell you the original dealer. That's where your mystery/treasure hunt begins.... Some states DMV may have info available, don't count on it. Unfortunately, I know of NO Library we can go to for info. I used the service to find my original dealer on our 66. Good Luck, Tim#5308

Hello Steve:Another remote possibility would be to get the
NCRS Car Award Confirmation Service >Possibility it was judged at one time then I think would give the name of the owner at that time. Larry

Googling the VIN sometimes produces interesting results. Best of luck in your search.

Check your title to see if it states the # of the previous title and the issuing state, then prayerfully contact MVD.

Our 65 has no known background. I can say "for sure" it was not stolen and buried in a barn for 20 years. The last owner didnt offer any info about whom he bought it from and is now dead. I'll start with the leads mentioned here. Hopefully fill in some of the blanks and report back.

Steve, be sure to thoroughly search the car, everywhere, for historical artifacts. For example, 35 years ago I was doing that for our '66 coupe. I found a theatre ticket stub under the ashtray from the Riverdale DriveIn in Ogden, Utah. That was my first clue that the car spent time there. Later research confirmed that the car came from a dealership in that city.

I have searched via Driveline ad with the previous owner 's name and the dealer to which it was originally sold in 1965. I also inserted the VIN on Dr. GOOGLE. No luck so far but I am still searching !

Mark, I've found a few items that didn't amount to much until a pack of matches was revealed inside the door hinge void. This match pack was from a restaurant in Colorado. Although the pack has the friction surface on the backside. Not the front as was common for the 60's. Considering the general rust on the frame I'm guessing that may have been one of its homes.

                      Keep your eyes open.
This actually happened to me about a year ago: I was doing some searching on this forum when I stumbled across a picture of what looked like my car. I searched the members posts, and yes, it was my car.

I contacted the forum member, nice guy, he had owned the car for 6 years, and he filled me in on everything he knew about the car.
                      So, you never know.
