    Manual Transmission coming to the C8??

    I saw this article and thought I would pass it on>

    SOME SAY THIS VIDEO SUGGESTS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION FOR THE C8 Z06: Here's a different look at the C8 Corvette Z06 sighting from earlier this week with some suggesting it has a manual transmission.

    Hope it is so. Please do not give me the argument on cost/vehicle sold. If GM can give Cadillac a manual
    transmission which have their vehicles made/sold numbers in the "laughable range";they can throw some of it($$) to Chevrolet also.

      When I replaced my '12 ZR1 6 speed with a new '19 ZR1 with the outstanding auto they have, I haven't missed that 6 speed even 1 time.....

        Even with 20 year old fake hips I still love my standard transmissions. To even consider a 2023 or 24 it would have to have a standard. I wonder how GM was able to make 49,000 corvettes in 79 and are struggling to build cars today. Even with covid as a reason to shut down

          GM has a global supply chain. One missing part and it's a no go.
          I read when Bowling-green shut down for a few days it was a part from Mexico.

          A better explanation here;

          However, GM fails to identify the part or country they are having issues with. At least in this article.

          This is the third shutdown related to supply issues following the reopening of the plant after the two-month COVID shut down back in May 2020. The last plant shutdown due to supply chain issues happened back in November. However, that was just a two-day shutdown following issues with suppliers in Mexico.

          The Corvette Assembly Plant is currently running two shifts to build the 2021 Corvette. Plant workers can complete approximately 92-94 Corvettes per shift which totals out to 930-940 new Corvettes built over the five-day work week.

          Another aricle mentioned the missing part.
          Chevy was forced to put 2021 Corvette production on hold for two weeks this month due to parts supply shortages that were unrelated to the ongoing global semiconductor pinch. Now the automaker has announced it will pause production once more from March 1st to March 7th due to a transmission parts shortage, with regularly scheduled work to resume that Monday.

            I believe the shutdown early in Feb. was due to a computer chip shortage due to a Taiwan facility being down. These are very complex machines they are building.

              The DCT in my C8 is so fast and so good I would opt for it even if I had the choice. I still have manual transmission cars in my garage to satisfy my rowing urges. I doubt very much that you will see a manual in the Z06. If they offer it, I will go with the DCT, it's that good.

                they must have just in time delivery otherwise with all the shutdowns parts should be laying all over the place. I mean they had to plan on 20 to 30 thousand cars the parts shortages make no sence.

                  Paul, I was listening to the video of the ZO6 mule on the other forum. It does sound like it's a manual trans. Some of those guys chimed in and said that the DCT behaves that way too in certain conditions as far as slippage goes when accelerating from a stop. Since I have never driven a car with a DCT, I was wondering if that is true.

                    Steve, I have watched that video. If you don't have the car in track mode and you aren't driving aggressively, the DCT will not shift as quickly and could simulate the sound of a manual. I just don't believe the architecture of this car will support a manual transmission.
