        Jimmy probably our first project in metal shop at Aviation High School was to make a set of vise jaw protectors out of sheet aluminum ( aluminum angle iron will work as well) 50 years later I make a new set every few years. They protect threads and all surfaces. The vise can be made a tight as needed
