Typical Heater hose exhaust manifold clearance C60

    Hi,

What's typical for heater hose to exhaust manifold clearance on a C60 (1966 SB)? I have about 1-1/2" on my car and nothing seems to be getting crispy yet, but it just seems close to me...

    Robert,
Heater hoses should route from the water pump and intake manifold across the lower area of the A/C compressor and route through a hose bracket on the A/C compressor. They then travel along the passenger side fender well, one to the "T" fitting at the surge tank and the other directly to the heater core. When routed correctly, they will be approximately 5" outboard of your exhaust manifold.
Do you own the AIM for your '66? Pictures are in the C60 section.
This is from my '67 AIM but I believe your '66 should be the same.

For that matter>What's typical for heater hose to exhaust manifold clearance on a NON-(C60) (1966 SB)? Everyone I have
seen in pictures or in person seems too close for comfort for me. I know mine does not have 5" clearance for sure maybe 2". It has had
no issues as of YET. Larry> P.S. Would not the Heater Hose To Exhaust Manifold on both C60 and Non-C60 cars be the same?

Larry, the hose from the surge tank to the water T is less than 2 inches, the T is tilted up at the rear to miss the battery retainer J bolt on non AC cars, this gives me about 4 inches of space from both hoses to exhaust manifold.

Bob it looks like the hot water valve is different in the way it exits, the AIM shows it coming straight out when it exits.you maybe able rotate the valve to move away from manifold.
