C-3 Headlamp Assembly What types of finishes were used on various parts?

Rebuilding my headlamp assemblies. Other than the 2 steel actuator support rods, and the headlight capsules which were black, I am trying to find out what finish was used on the various parts and fasteners. The Judging manual does not have much info on this at all. For instance, the actual small parts inside the assembly, were they raw steel, or green primer or what? I have one used one which gives me some idea as to what got overspray, but exactly what parts were installed at the time of the assembly, and before painting? I have not yet found any source of information on this, and I would think this is something any restorer would need to know. Any help is appreciated. Mark

I am not sure if this helps, or not. From 1970 January 29 build. I would take it that the rusty springs were natural, but I can recall seeing pictures with cored springs, so this may be deteriorated too much to help. It is the only image I could find of that area, even though it doesn't give you as much as you would like. This photo was intended for other purposes than the spring colors when I took it. The cup in back of the headlamps is dirty in this picture. It is gloss black, but I have seen reports of other finishes.

Thanks for the input Terry. I think this is one of those areas on the car, that was not really documented very well. Guess this means the judges will have to allow for different finishes. Mark

Glad you posted that one Terry... I had never noticed the green overspray on the springs.

This one also shows the pivot bolt being oversprayed with body color.
