These marking are like frame markings, they are on your parts as the car was assembled.

There was a process to install the correct parts into specific cars, and in this case C60 AC and a M35 Powerglide were specified, so this part was going to need to accomodate both options.

These come from a One Owner 1966, and if you put rotation build numbers and frame numbers, then these are of the same category.

        I am not a mid-year expert, but I'll bite...
to my eye, this does not look like a "part" or "piece" that goes on a mid-year.

Hand-penned RPOs are a clue - plus the metal looks like angle iron (not birdcage square tube stock) w/ a 90 degree vertical channel section to the right.

To me it looks like (pick the right word) the bottom of a storage a rack?; dolly?; RR or Trailer transportation fixture?; stacking fixture; or both (transport and stacking)?

Is it possibly for an engine w/ C60 mated to its M35 Transmission?

Do you know what it is?

ooops, you replied before I was done typing...
        thx,
        Mark

I know exactly what it is, it came out of an AOSmith produced Body, no-hit ever, One-Owner, November built 66, with a powerglide, and freon still in the AC system, i.e. working when I pulled this out.

The build sequence rotation number was also on this piece so it ties to the rest of the car.
