    63 GF-90 Fuel Filter

Is the natural finish or black GF-90 fuel filter on L75 engines correct? I have had 3 '63's judged, all had black fuel filters, and only once took a deduction for an incorrect filter. It was my understanding from the JM that either should be correct (JM seems to indicate black filters were more common) for a late build car.
    Thx Joe

The filter and attachments are 5 points. If you gave 4 points to the filter and one point to the attachments. At most your loss is .8, rounded up to 1. Assuming it's new there would be no deduction from the 4 condition points.

isn't there an early and late 63 difference? Going back decades I understood that the silver can was correct for early 360HP cars (mine October 62) . Always open to new info though.

That was my thinking also, the early cars had a silver GF-90

The current JM makes no distinction - maybe the upcoming version will add more detail.

Do the judges deduct for the groove around the circumference of the nut on each end?

In my case, I received no deductions in any of the three judging, for the for the nut on each end of the fuel filter.

Typically the early cars had silver fuel filters at least the fuel injection cars. Then later black.
See page 97. Says that silver w/red have been seen on original cars in both '63 and '64.
I don't get involved here with judging comments because of my "job" as FI contact person.
                    Joe Ray does though.
