Re: How Many Black 63' coupes
Here's a fun story of a Black 63 Coupe that went to Red...... then back to Black.
I've recently sold my '59 and the wife's 2 Jags. They're going on 2 containers and I have a local exporter arranging the entire process. He's been doing this for 35 years and we had a great conversation about Corvettes the other day. He presently owns a '67 Corvette and told me he was the buyer of the "Guam '63 Coupe". Back in 2010 a man in Guam tried to sell his Red '63 coupe on CF... Here (Sid if this one isn't in your list the data is in that link in the ad)
I asked him if I could tell his story and post some pictures he sent me. He said sure!
The '63 was won in a raffle along with a red '93 Corvette. The '63 was originally black, and it was allegedly painted red to match the '93 for the raffle. The owner of the '63 had a tax burden winning the 2 cars so he kept the '93 and wanted to sell the '63 to help pay his taxes.
Here's a picture the seller had in the ad.

I remember that FS thread and followed along. It took a while to sell because of it's location. My exporter went there and bought it. Living here in Melbourne Florida for many years but from South Africa originally, Ash gave the seller a call. Since he's familiar with the containerized shipping process it was ideal for him.
During the call they did the deal. He bought some plane tickets and packed a bag with k's of cash and some clothes. He hopped on a flight from here to Osaka Japan then on to Guam. The transaction was done and he now owned the car.
Ash drove around Guam for a while before getting it loaded in a container for the trip to LA where he had a friend to help get it back to the US.

A while later the car was delivered to the Port of Los Angeles where he met his friend. Ash drove the car around everywhere in LA having fun with it before shipping it back to Florida.

When it arrived, he proceeded to get it back to it's original Tuxedo Black to match the Trim Tag. It took a while but got it all done and back on the road. He drove it around Florida for some time. (note the license plate, still on the Guam plate.... lol)

As I recall he said he got a call from someone in South Africa that wanted to buy it and sold it to him. Here it is going in the can for the long boat trip, south-south-east. (BTW this is what I'll be overseeing in a few weeks with 2 cans)

The car arrived to it's new home in SA and was a hit there. Ash told me the market for classic cars there is amazing. He was there a few years ago for a Classic Car Rally from SA to Zimbabwe. He drove his buddies 70's Riviera(iirc) when he told me the story. He said it was a "interesting" time.

He told me a few months after it's arrival it made the cover of South African Hot Rod magazine.
