    63 N11 exhaust and stock 2 1/2" exhaust

Is there a way to determine if your 63, 360HP, 4.11 gear posi, came with N11 exhaust or the base 2 1/2" exhaust? Looking to replace my system and not sure which to order.

Second question: Is it possible to install the welded pipe to muffler original version on a car with the body on? If so what is involved?

Third: Which supplier has the most original, best fitting system?

        Re: 63 N11 exhaust and stock 2 1/2" exhaust

Looking into the NCRS forum archives I found a post indicating the N11 exhaust will not fit an early 63 with the floor wells, which is what I have. Any thoughts on that?

I have not seen parts suppliers giving a choice of early or late. Are two versions actually made? If so, who has an early version to fit with the seat wells?

The N11 63E system was available as a friend bought a used original set at Bloomington Gold for his ZO-6. This was many years ago at the Fairgrounds. So they did exist!

According to the NCRS Specifications Guide the number of '63 factory N-11 installations was ZERO. When released in '64 the rear pipe section lacked the "jog" to clear the early '63 deep seat wells. Also, the "polarity" of the center connection of the head pipe to rear section was reversed relative to '63.

The basic difference between the base and N-11 system was the muffler, and I believe you can get an "equivalent" '63 N-11 system by having repro N-11 mufflers welded to the proper rear pipe section that will mate to the proper repro front section from at least one of the known vendors, but I'm not sure which one.

Tory I looked at Corvette Central’s website and the exhaust pipe and muffler appears to have the bends to kick out around the tool boxes. So it could fit the early and late. Maybe give the a call to confirm.I brought my system about 10 years ago, things may have changed on there listings.

I put a set of Gardner N11 exhaust on my 300hp July built 63. I did it for the sound. It fit just fine. Just needed to weld on the mufflers after it was all positioned correctly.

I thought about that option but understand the factory weld is almost impossible to duplicate with aftermarket mufflers. Still I may go that way. But I have an early October 62 car with the underseat tool trays.

Yes Troy the weld at mufflers is not as the factory did. Most of the 63’s I see the pipes are not carbon steel also.I myself don’t like to see rusty parts after a full restoration.

Troy, The Corvette Central part number for 62 with N11 welded mufflers is 322074. I have bought many of these!! Add CS to the end of that number if you want the carbon steel version.
I have been using Corvette Central exhausts for my personal Corvettes along with all my customer's cars for over 20 years. I have never had an issue. Along with that, Jerry and Scott are wonderful people and big contributors to NCRS.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I will shop today and figure N11 repo will work with the tool trays.

I see that Allen's offers an early and late but doesn't mention a N11 option. Will need to call.
