    62 Corvette Dash Pad

My car is in a shop. They've removed the old dash pad. The new dash pad is a lot thicker than I thought it would be. I thought the padding would be maybe 1/2" thick. But in places it's maybe 6" thick. Is that normal?

YOu can see it in this video:

Who is the manufacturer? Have you spoke to them?

Robert that is a shape holder. Pull that thick piece of foam out and toss it. It's just stuffed in there for shipping.

Are you sure that the thick part is not temporarily inserted to protect the dash pad assembly during shipment. That thick section should/might just pull out. That's the way my AK dash pad came.

I told him that on the "other" forum when he asked the same question...
It would worry me that his shop doesn't know that..

Agree with Mike and others, find a shop that knows what they are doing, surely someone in your chapter has had a C1 dash pad installed. It is not that hard to do it yourself with a little time and patience. Dry fit it first, very little glue if any is needed on top as the defroster vents, mirror, speaker and dash insert hold down. Make sure you don't trim too much off the front that goes under the windshield. The only place I glued was the underside of the dash. A little t******* needs done there.

Maybe Robert is asking himself only and not the shop.

If the shop is asking that's very discouraging and should put it back in the box.

PS There is a complete dashpad procedure in the DoRD Sticky above.
