    69 Wheel paint

I read that the 69 wheels have a unique color (nott just argent silver). Does anyone have any info on where i could order the correct color to paint my wheels?? Thanks, Mark

Mark check with Corvette Central they use to carry the argent silver with a green hue.

Read between the lines of the product description before buying. I've noticed, at least, one vendor calls their product a "coating". I purchased a can recently, and, to me, it seemed different from paint. When it dried on the wheel, it's finish just didn't look "right". The color did seem good, though. The wheel that was done will go into the spare tire carrier, and won't see much of the light of day. So, I'm not stressed about it, FWIW.

Someone once told me, many years ago, that GM's 1971 Chevrolet El Camino paint silver (name?) has the right shade of silver-green. I've never purchased any, but on a paint chip card it looked pretty close.

One of my local friends recently tried the silver-green in an aerosol can. While slightly greener than silver, it does not match his original spare with its original paint.

Another friend had some matched at a paint store, which worked out much better.

A Friend had a1971 silver El Camino and it did have a green hue. This may be a good starting point and adjusting the green tint as needed.

I have 4 original paint OCT dated 1969 wheels, there is not a spot large enough to scan with the camera at the paint store.

                HOWEVER I matched to the color for 2 - 69's and a 71 I painted last year.

I used GM argent silver with 4 drops of green toner per 2 OZ of paint.
I can get you the EXACT toner numbers and weights.

When I did a search, Amazon sells the same brand.

When I had my 69, IIRC, I used "OEM" brand Argent Silver-Green.

                      Maybe they still make it?

This is what my friend used, which was not nearly as green as his original wheel:

Make your wheels look like they just rolled out of the factory with this spray wheel coating. This eliminates the need for expensive custom paint mixing and greatly simplifies the restoration process by providing spray-gun results without the hassle and mess of a spray gun or the need for an air compressor.
