Very sad news. Bill was a true gentleman and great asset to NCRS. He provided excellent council to us through the years. May he rest in peace.

Bill was Chief Judge at Copper Mountain in 1984 when I first met him and he convinced me to judge, rest is history. RIP to mentor and friend!

I never met Bill in person, but we "met" on the TDB, and I realized, like me, over the years he had taken a "deep dive" into the inside of the Small Block V8. Through our TDB and email conversations I came to understand that he had taken a dial indicator diagram of the 30-30 cam, and I had done the LT-1 cam. We exchanged data and that's when it became clear to me that the LT-1 exhaust lobe was the same as the 30-30 cam lobe (same on both sides), just advanced about four degrees.

Later when I had the opportunity to inspect the drawings for most OE Chevrolet cams I realized that the LT-1 cam inlet lobe was the same as the big block SHP cam lobe (same on both sides), other than having a smaller base circle.

Bill was only a year older than me, so his passing makes me think about my own mortality.

                      Duke

I am deeply saddened as another NCRS friend is lost. Dick and I shared many good times with Bill and Val. May they rest in peace.

Like Carl I first met Bill at Copper Mountain. I was fortunate to take my parents and meet Bill. He and Dennis Clark shared much time answering questions and telling of experiences. A great loss. R.I.P. Bill and Thank You.
