Mini Regional PV Meets-Scottsdale and Cedar Rapids

Today, I completed the setup of the Mini Regional PV Meets that will proceed the 2021 Scottsdale and Cedar Rapids regionals. Registration is live and open.

This means that you can qualify as a Mark of Excellence (MOE) Candidate in Palm Springs, CA, by achieving both prerequisites for the MOE at the same location and in the same week. (Note that the prior Flight Judging prerequisite for a PV applies and is not waived.)

This is a special accommodation that I have made in light of the COVID-19 pandemic that is gripping our country. It will not be repeated or made a normal procedure.

If you wish to take advantage of this special opportunity, please register for the main regional meet first, and then register for the mini meet.

The mini regional meet will occur on Tuesday and Wednesday directly preceding the full regional, Thursday through Saturday. You must arrive and check in on Tuesday, with PV's done on Wednesday.

On Thursday, you will check in for the full regional.

Note that these are two separate regional meets.

You will not be allowed to register for the mini meet alone; you must register for the main event (including Flight Judging) in order to be considered for the mini event. Cars that fail the PV on Wednesday will not be allowed to switch to a second PV during the full regional.

I hope I have anticipated all the questions, but I am sure you will let me know.

    Regards,
    Dave

    Dave,

To clarify, these are only to be used for qualifying for the 2021 National, and cannot be used to qualify for the 2022 National.
    Correct?

      Patrick,
Although the concept here was to help members qualify for an MOE award in Palm Springs 2021, a successful PV pass in Scottsdale or Cedar Rapids 2021 will also satisfy the PV prerequisite for the 2022, 2023 and 2024 national conventions.
      Regards,
      Dave

        Dave,

        Thanks for the clarification.
There are less Regionals than normal for those of us looking to 2022, so if the opportunity in Iowa is available I think I'll take it.

The Texas Chapter is open for business with the Lone Star Regional in October 2021. We are planning to hold our regional 21-23 October.

            Thanks Bob.
I'd like to get a Duntov for the car's 50th anniversary in 2022 if practicable. 2020 pulled most of the events I had planned "off the table" so my options are more limited.

It’s all down hill from Michigan to Texas. Come on down and enjoy some Texas hospitality and BBQ.

Yes, but it's all uphill on the way home.

IN will be hosting a Regional in 2022.
That's one you can keep in your pocket in case it's needed.

It may be too much trouble, but how is someone already (I think) registered for the Scottsdale Regional supposed to register for the "Preregional"?

Loren, There is a separate registration for the mini meet and the prices are the same for a PV as the regular Regional. Don H.

So, instead of just extending my stay for an additional 2 days after paying $100 to register for Regional, I'm going to have to pay another $100 to register if I want to witness the PVs? Do I get a refund if NO ONE shows up for the mini-PV? Or just a Thank You>

I can't speak for the Arizona Regional, only the Heartland Regional. At Cedar Rapids, Iowa there is no registration fee to watch the PV's at the mini meet but you must register for the Heartland Regional ($100). To have a PV done at the mini meet you must register for BOTH events. The mini meet has a $25 registration (participants only) and $100 PV fee. Don H.

At AZ Mini Regional, there is no registration fee for you to watch the PV's at the mini meet. You are already registered for the AZ Regional.
                              Thanks,
