1967 Hardtop Side Mount Bracket Finish

Getting ready to finish the restoration of my 67 hardtop and have a question concerning the side mount bracket finish. Were they masked off during hardtop painting or should they have some overspray? My top is painted and the outside of the brackets have overspray and the OCD part of me wants to clean them up. I searched the site but only found one reference for a 63 that appeared to have some residual black paint. The poster asked about the finish as am I but no one answered the post. Photos of original and restored would be most appreciated.
    Thanks Tom

Tom, These are on a 67 before I restored. Lots of blackout everywhere.

      Rich,
Thanks for the reply and photos, those are a big help. I cleaned the overspray off of mine but perhaps when it’s done I should blackout the entire underside as that’s what appears to have been done on your original. As always, appreciate your detailed response

While reading through the Dow Smith Hardtop AIM I came across the answer to my own question. In the attached photo the worker is instructed to remove tape applied to hold down bracket during painting process. Makes sense they taped it off during painting and like most everything else done during this period very little attention to detail was followed. Thought I would share as others have asked the question in previous posts with no definitive answers.
