Nobody could ever know if a helicoil had been installed in the vast majority of carburetor applications including the inlet fitting if that's what you are referring to.

As far as storage, I think about the best you can do is to spray the carb with something like Pre-Lube 6 or WD-40 and place it inside a sealed plastic bag.
