C3 Bumperette Special Washer 6256884 again

    Hi everyone,

I've read the existing post about the dimensions of this Spl Washer 6256884 but it seems to perhaps be in question what the thickness is - 1/8 vs. 3/16. Wondering if anyone has any further information regarding this washer?

I assume its function is to allow a gap for drainage and if so 1/8 might be enough for my left bumperette but my right's support is slightly further up and 1/8 would not achieve anything.

    Thanks,

    Jack

Thanks David. Okay, I think I've made sense out of this washer. The holes on the lower body where the bumperette bolts up are no longer in "as built" shape. After further examination of the area and a washer I recently purchased of approximately the correct size I can see that the washer goes into the hole in the lower body thereby providing a solid and continuous framework of steel from the frame to the bumper not involving the fibreglass body (which of course makes sense) and probably doesn't have anything to do with bumperette drainage. The latter is a problem though - both my cars had rust stains from the bumperettes down onto the air dam.

Can anyone verify my assumption in my last comment regardin how this special washer is used? Thanks.
