    Camshaft Lifters

Got a question about a NOS GM camshaft. I have a GM part #3863151 L79 hydraulic camshaft I am unsure what lifters to use on it. I read that GM part #5232670 lifters will work on this camshaft. Can anyone confirm these lifters are recommended? If not what lifter. Thanks Mike

Yes, those lifters are GM approved for use on your camshaft (and most others).

By the way, those should be very good lifters. I believe that part number was still being manufactured by AC Division of GM. Those were the best lifters.

Federal Mogul "Sealed Power" brand lifters are manufactured IAW the GM blueprint. Gen I SB hydraulic lifters are all the same back to at least '57. Offhand I don't know the p/n, but you can look it up at napaonline.com, or any other Sealed Power retailer. I wouldn't pay a big premium for GMPD lifters.

Is 5232670 the correct part number ? Dont see it in the GM online catalog.

It's not the current part number. It was the part number between 1972 and January, 1978 when it was replaced by GM #5232720.

Personally, if I were going to use flat tappet lifters (which I would not), I'd use the AC manufactured lifters, hydraulic or mechanical, over any others.
