1969 Corvette Conv 350-300 (Need Help to Identify a Part)

In doing a complete restoration, I have a few parts I can't seem to figure out. Does anyone recognize this one and can you tell me where it goes? In my defense, taking every bolt and screw off the car and I have reinstalled 99.99%. I have 5 parts that I could use help with. Somethings weren't installed on the car and were sandblasted, painted or powdered coated in the process to later determine they don't belong on this car. Thank you!

I think that is your back up light switch for a 4 speed. Harness has been clipped off, though.

Yes, backup light switch. Also, the circular switch was dipped in a greenish liquid-rubber once the harness was attached so that road dust, etc., wouldn't enter the switch.

Thank you! I am a bit surprised by the difference in an aftermarket switch. Is this repairable? We have a shop nearby that does electrical work on things like the windshield wiper motor and might have him take a look. Given that it was stripped and not on the car, might indicate it wasn't in working condition. Any suggestions are appreciated! Theme for the car is to restore the parts from the car and return, but somethings just can be repaired.

The local shop you mention may be able to test the switch to see if it's working properly.
Lectric Limited might have the small harness that is attached to the switch.

It's simple to test. It's open in one position and closed in the opposite position.

The switch electrical leads could be repaired by carefully "un-crimping" the connectors and installing a new wiring harness. Of course, as Mark suggest, you should first test the switch which is very easy to do with a VOM. If it tests OK, it's fine for reuse after replacing the harness.

The biggest problem you will face is applying a rubberized coating which covers the terminal end of the switch and several inches of the wiring harness at the switch end.

I have not found the reproduction switches to be that inconsistent with the configuration of the original switches.

Plasti Dip might be an option.

New switches with wires and covering installed are about $60, so I don't know that I would spend too much time trying to fix it.
Some things are better replaced and time spent elsewhere.
