1975 Seat belt interlock

Reading the 73-77 Ops Man and PV Test Guide - 1974 Seat Belt Ignition Interlock section pgs 17-18."Per GM Service Bulletin 75-I-3, 1975 Corvettes through VIN 402257 should have a working seat belt interlock." By the Judging Guide, pg 31 (orange page) VIN#s, my '75 is a late January to very early February VIN. Again from the PVM, "Whether operational or non-operational, the interlock button should still be in place on the firewall." Mine is there. "The owner should document the disabling of the system or it will fail the PV test". Please help me understand what this last statement means and how to document the disabling? Thanks in advance.

Are you saying you have a 1975 VIN higher than 402257 and the interlock functions as described? Perhaps if its an original configuration it should be left as is? The following page is from the 3rd edition of the 75-77 timjg...yet to be published. I'm also including the TSB on the same issue that shows the guidance given to dealers to disconnect when requested by the owner.

Tom, yes I have a VIN between 413159 and 417112. But, the boxes of parts I received with the dismantled car when I bought it contained what appears to be an NOS interlock button for the firewall. it matched all photos of buttons I could find in researching this part of the rebuild. We have installed it per the '75 Assembly manual pg 438 Section 12L Sheet 15 and then came across the section referenced above and wanted clarification on what to do next. Thanks for your reply. Tom, I left out that the assembly manual page has CANCELLED across the sheet but in the REVISION section at the bottom of the page, it states,
"Date - 4-3-75, SYM = 1, SHEET CANCELLED". Hence our installing the button then my finding the info in the PV manual and the Judging Guide and the basis for my question. We will leave the part mounted and move forward accordingly with the GM pages you forwarded. Thanks again. Lynn
