    1965 Day/Night Mirror

Appreciate if someone could post a photo of an original '65 day/night mirror. Showing the knob detail and all markings.
    Thanks!
    Dominic.

    Dominic,
As far as I know the day/night interior mirror was not original equipment on 1963-1966 Corvettes. I have four 8" day/night interior mirrors in my collection and all 4 appear to be identical. Two are from 1963 Corvairs, one is from a 1964 Corvair, and one is from a 1965 Buick Skylark. They are stamped "GUIDE" AND "GLARE-PROOF" between the 2 rivets on the top and "MADE IN USA" on the bottom near the black plastic knob. I have one of them installed on my 1966 Corvette even though it is not original equipment.
I also have a 8" day/night mirror from a 1968 Camaro the is very similar except that the gray knob is a different shape and there is a gray rubber trim piece that surrounds the perimeter of the mirror.
    I can provide photos tomorrow..
    Dave

        Dave,
        thank you....photos would be great.

AS far as I know the 8" day/night mirror was an option Z01 called Comfort and Convenience Group in 1965.

My 1965 Corvette AIM lists an Z01 option (UPC Z01, Sheet 1 & Sheet 2) but nothing about an interior day/night mirror. Am I missing a few pages?
My 1965 Chevrolet AIM and 1965 Chevelle AIM both list a Z01 option which includes an outside rear view mirror.

Noland Adams' Vol. 2 shows the following for Z01 (page 305).

Oddly, I have two 65 AIMs and both show Z01 as Backup Lamp. Sht "Backup Lamp - Contents" and Sht. 2 "Backup Lamp - Switch & Rod.

                FYI,
my understanding is you could not get back up lamps or a day/night mirror separately. you could only order Z01 option and you would get them both.

Dom, Don, correct. 65 convenience delivered with day night. In 66 day night rear view mirrors were a dealer installed option. Donnley and Guide mirrors were the only two mirrors available from the Factory.

                      Re: 1965 Day/Night Mirror

From the following assembly manuals (UPC Z01, Sheet 1): interior mirror part numbers:
                      1963 Chevrolet: 897562
                      1964 Chevrolet, 1964 Chevelle, 1965 Chevrolet, 1965 Chevelle: 910480
                      1966 Chevrolet, 1966 Chevelle, 898821
These parts numbers do not appear in my 1963, 1964, 1965, and 1966 Chevrolet parts catalogs in Gr. 10.185.

I assume my two 1963 Corvair mirrors on the right side on the photo are GM # 897562 and the 1965 Skylark mirror is GM # 910480. If so, I see absolutely no difference.
The mirror on the left is from a 1968 Camaro, GM # 916177, as shown in the 1968 Camaro AIM (UPC 1, Sheet B4). GM # 916177 is also shown in the 1967 Corvette AIM (UPS 1, Sheet E5) as the interior mirror.

FWIW my 64 Coupe had the day/night mirror, back up lights and luggage hold down straps and brackets in luggage area, came as a package from dealer.

thanks all,but can someone please confirm if the 1965 Corvette day/night mirror has the marking "made in USA" near the knob area of the mirror?.....plus what was the actual "shape" of the black knob? ( detail photo of the knob would be helpful)
                          Appreciate the feedback!

My 1965 Chevrolet Parts Catalogs (Oct. 1964, Jan. 1965, and May 1965) in Gr. 10.185 all list the following:
                            "63-65 CORVETTE..........MIRROR UNIT, inside non-glare prismatic.................985657"
These catalogs do not include the Corvair.

Attached is a link of a NOS 985657 mirror in a very old green & tan Chevrolet box that is on eBay (not mine).

This NOS 985657 mirror on eBay appears to be the same as my original 1963 Corvair and 1965 Skylark interior day/night mirrors.
The black plastic "knob" is in the shape of a parallelogram (more or less) measuring about 0.45" to 0.65" in width with a height of about 0.50" with a thickness of about 0.40".
