    1995 Upper Radiator Clamp Info

After examining the upper radiator clamp on my 95, I discovered that these clamps are in fact date coded. Mine indicates a date code of 0894 and I have a build date of 11-1-94. I'm attaching a few pics. One is magnified for better viewing. I don't think we have been judging this clamp based on this detail information. The word Norma and the number 3250 also appears (I believe that "Norma" manufactures clamps).

Just thought I share this for C4 judges and owners. I don't know if 94's are the same. Chime in if you know and post a picture.

    Thank you.

1992-94 were supposed to have used clamp GM #10158084. This is a spring-type clamp color-coded gray. Below is an original example on my 1992.

1995-96 were supposed to have used clamp GM #21030894. I believe this was a worm type clamp as you have pictured.

Dave, I believe that "0894" is August 1994, not a Julian date. That would put it within the six months. Here is another sample of a clamp from another car with a 0395 date on it (March 1995) and the car has a build date of April 1995.

I find that many mechanical components to late C4s have dates, instead of Julian dates, especially the hoses and the accumulator. (see pics). The fan label appears to have a Julian date.

Dates on components are generally the convention of the manufacturer of the component rather than any sort of GM "standardized" convention. Even GM manufacturing divisions (AC, Delco, Harrison, etc.) used different dating conventions.

Hi Ed. I checked my '95 that shows a date of 11/28/94 on the build sheet. It has the same clamp as yours except mine is not dated.
