Well guys I seem to have myself in a bit of a situation here. I found a date matched 29204 carb about 10 or so years ago and I'm just getting around to restoring it now. The problem I was told is that the throttle plate is wrong(from a 68 SBC). The reason I questioned it is because it has a small block throttle lever which I just recently discovered is different than the big block. The rest of the carb looks correct including the jets, metering rods, etc so what I need now is a correct throttle plate or even one that will work for now until I find a correct one.
My question is how can one positively ID this 396/427 throttle plate assy and in the mean time which throttle plates could I use until I find a correct one? Also where in the heck would a guy start to look for something like this. Whole carbs come up from time to time but this throttle plate might be a little more challenging.... Heck I'm not even sure what P/N to search for this piece.
