Gary , those pictures are very close to the ones i sent you . On mine the ends did not meet up perfectly and you could see the dirt on glue side that was exposed to the elements

      Bob,

Thanks for reminding me of your photos. Were all three of your photos of the same tag? I have a hard time imagining how your tag(s) connected together, now that they are in their unwrapped configuration. Good evidence nonetheless.

Tom Russo's Restorer article (V32:3 Winter 2006) nicely describes line workers use of Broadcast Codes, in your case, green tags on front springs. Well worth a read, just working to get correct parts on cars - you're right not much precision here.

On the other hand, for Flight Judging, we're getting into the weeds here. 1963-67 assign 4 Originality points to front springs. Splitting 4 into 3 for springs and 1 for tags (IMO too much for tags) means these issues are minimal. A missing tag - half a point, both missing - one point. Tag cut lines would be a configuration issue, 20% of 1 point - making a notation at best. 1968-72 Flight Judging assigns only 2 Originality points to front springs. Out of 4500 total points-not much.
