70 lt1 half shaft yoke condition

Finally got the lt1 up on the kwik lift for the winter. Looking for issues that may relate to the noise coming from the back passenger side I had posted earlier. Plan to change diff fluid first.

I noticed grease oozing out the passenger side half shaft yoke caps. Dont know if it was over filled, boot split, or some other condition I'm not familiar with.

May or may not be related to the noise I mentioned, but it is from the side the noise comes from.20201108_125737.jpg pip

    Dennis,
Do those u-joints have grease fittings? If so, it appears that someone got overly aggressive with the grease gun.

As Ron mentioned could be over greasing or if solid joints some extra grease added at install. Solid joints are pregreased but when I assemble them I put a very light coat of grease over the needles to hold them in place during install- as anyone who had a needle fall out into the cap will attest to. to have that much come out is obviously too much. A bad joint sounds like a clicking noise but not knowing what you are hearing I would look at checking the TA bearing play, inner axle endplay, and possibly as you are going to check- just a diff oil change with fresh GM additive and quality gear oil might resolve your issue. I see the lip at the axle seal is intact so the axle isn't hitting it, at least from your picture but look close at it if you have more then 030" endplay

The noise sounds like a tire spinning on gravel. Hear it on quick acceleration on a hill or right turn. Lasts a second or 2.
Also notice I dont hear it driving locally, but coming off a highway run its there.

Sounds like the limited slip clutches.
